Short-form video editing

Short-form video editing service for business owners who film themselves.

Short-form video editing is the process of cutting raw vertical footage into a polished Reel, TikTok, or YouTube Short that holds attention and drives action. A senior editor handles pacing, captions, color, music, and structure. You film it and brief it. We cut it.

VX Workflow is a short-form video editing subscription built for business owners who post consistently and need a reliable, senior-level editing team behind them. Every edit is cut by a senior editor and quality-controlled by Hayden Brinkley, our Head of Content, before you see it.

What short-form video editing actually involves

Most people assume video editing is about making footage look good. That's part of it. For short-form content, though, editing is primarily a structural job.

Raw footage of a business owner speaking to camera for 90 seconds needs to be cut to 45 without losing the argument. The hook, the first two seconds that decide whether someone keeps scrolling, needs to be identified and placed at the front. Captions need to appear at the right time, in the right place, not covering the speaker's face. The music needs to build energy without drowning out the speaking. The color grade needs to match the brand without looking filtered.

That's what a senior short-form video editor does. It's not a template job. It requires editorial judgment on every cut.

What we edit

VX Workflow handles vertical short-form content only:

  • Instagram Reels (up to 60 seconds, 9:16)
  • TikTok videos (up to 60 seconds, 9:16)
  • YouTube Shorts (up to 60 seconds, 9:16)
  • LinkedIn video (vertical format, 9:16)

We don't handle long-form YouTube, brand films, event videos, or landscape content. That work goes to Unreal Media, the production agency that built and operates this platform. If you need short-form edited on subscription, this is the right place.

How the short-form editing process works

01

Set up your brand profile once

On signup, you complete a brand profile: your business description, target audience, preferred color grade, tone, music style, caption preferences, and what to avoid. Takes about two minutes and is saved permanently.

Every brief you submit after that autofills your brand defaults. You only specify what's different about this particular reel.

02

Submit a brief in under 60 seconds

Open the portal. Drop your footage, choose a length (15, 30, or 60 seconds), add any notes specific to this reel, and hit submit. The SLA starts from that moment. Growth: 3 days. Pro: 48 hours.

03

A senior editor cuts your reel

Not a junior. Not a template. A senior video editor reads your brand profile, watches your footage, and builds the cut from scratch. The Filming Brief, available on Pro, gives the editor strategic context before the footage even arrives.

04

Hayden Brinkley QCs every cut

Before you see the edit, Hayden Brinkley, our Head of Content, watches it. If it's not right, it goes back to the editor. If it meets the standard, it ships. This step is not optional and it applies to every single edit regardless of plan.

This is what solves the inconsistent-freelancer problem most business owners eventually hit. You're not betting on whether the editor we assigned today is having a good week. You're getting the standard Hayden enforces, and that standard doesn't move.

05

Review in your portal

The cut lands in your VX Review hub inside the portal. Click any frame, leave a timestamped comment, tag a teammate. One-click approve when you're happy, one-click request revision if you're not. Revision rounds are included in every paid plan.

06

Download and post

Approved files land in your file library, organized by project. Your whole team has access. Ready to post.

Who short-form video editing is for

Business owners who film themselves

You're filming content on your phone: talking head reels, behind-the-scenes, product demos, expert tips. You know what you want to say. You don't have the time or the software to cut it yourself, and every freelancer you've tried has been inconsistent, slow, or both.

VX Workflow gives you a fixed monthly output: 8 or 20 senior-edited reels, delivered on a schedule, with two sets of experienced eyes on every cut.

Coaches and consultants

You generate content from your expertise. One filming session, 90 minutes, 10 takes, should produce enough raw material for a full month of reels. The editing turns that session into polished pieces that build your authority week by week.

Agencies managing multiple clients

Up to 5 team seats on Pro. Each team member can submit briefs directly. Brand profiles are scoped per client, so each account gets consistent results without the briefing overhead. One flat monthly subscription, no per-edit invoices.

E-commerce brands

Product content on retainer. Aspect-ratio variants for Reels, TikTok, and Shorts from the same source footage. Music library cleared for paid use. 48-hour turnaround on Pro for campaign launches when timing matters.

vs Freelancers

What makes this different from a freelance video editor

The comparison most business owners make when evaluating VX Workflow Edits is against hiring a freelancer. Here's where the difference actually sits.

01Quality

A freelance editor's output quality varies by workload, and there's no accountability layer above them. VX Workflow has a fixed quality standard. Hayden QCs every cut before it reaches you. The standard doesn't vary with anyone's schedule.

02Speed

Freelancers set their own turnarounds. Server-enforced SLAs on Growth (3 days) and Pro (48 hours) mean the deadline is contractual.

03Brand memory

A freelancer needs re-briefing on your brand preferences for every new project. The VX Workflow brand profile autofills those defaults permanently. The editor working on your brief this month has the same context the editor last month had.

04Cost

The cost math works out differently too. A senior editor in the US market charges $150 to $350 per reel. The Growth plan at $995/month delivers 8 senior-edited reels at $124 per edit with the QC layer included. Pro at $2,495/month delivers 20 edits at $124.75 each with a dedicated editor and 48-hour turnaround.

05Overhead

And there's no hiring overhead. No job posting, no portfolio reviews, no trial projects, no gaps when someone disappears.

Frequently asked questions

Short-form video editing is the process of cutting raw vertical footage into a finished Reel, TikTok, or YouTube Short. It covers structural editing (pacing, hook placement, trimming), captions, color grading, music, and format optimization for the target platform. For business content, it also requires editorial judgment: finding the strongest moment in a take and building the cut around it.

VX Workflow starts at $995/month for 8 senior-edited reels on the Growth plan, which works out to about $124 per edit. Pro is $2,495/month for 20 reels with a dedicated editor, 48-hour turnaround, and a monthly strategy call. A free plan delivers 2 senior-edited reels on signup plus 30 AI briefs a month, with no card required.

Turnaround times are enforced by the platform: 3 days on Growth, 48 hours on Pro. The first trial reel on the free plan is delivered within 48 hours regardless of plan.

You film the footage (phone camera is fine) and we cut it. VX Workflow doesn't handle production or filming. If you need a full production service including filming, that's an Unreal Media project.

Vertical short-form only: Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn video, all in 9:16 format up to 60 seconds. Pro allows up to 10 edits per month at 75 to 90 seconds.

No contract, no lock-in. Monthly plans cancel anytime from your dashboard. There's a 30-day money-back guarantee on the first paid month. If it doesn't work for you, we refund it. No form, no call.

Unused slots roll forward one month, then expire. If you can't use them before they expire, message the team.
